WestSide Baby Benefit Tea so successful they are moving to airport location Feb. 12
Wed, 01/04/2012
WestSide Baby, the now well known charitable organization whose mission is to collect clothing, disposable diapers and car seats for infants and children is moving its annual benefit tea from the Brockey Center at South Seattle Community College (where it has been held for the past three years),for the best of reasons. It's been so successful they need more room. The organization has chosen the Hilton Conference Center near SeaTac Airport.
The press release explains:
The benefit tea is a tradition for WestSide Baby gathering hundreds of supporters for a unique afternoon of high tea, fundraising, visiting with friends and supporting local children in need. Many tables are hosted by table captains who gather 9 other friends or family members but, this year, we also can accommodate others who want to learn more about WestSide Baby. “We decided to move to a bigger venue after selling out to 450+ guests for the last few years. The Tea is our largest fundraiser of the year and turning away people who wish to learn more about what we do no longer made sense,” shares Nancy Woodland, WestSide Baby Executive Director. “The Tea is fun! For many, this is the one time each year they get to see neighbors, colleagues or parents of their kids’ friends in a different setting while gathering for a good cause. ”
The Tea tradition includes tables set with individual sets of china shared by community members, mimosas, BabyCakes by Avalon Glassworks, wonderful Troll Bead bracelet prizes donated by Wyatt’s Jewelers and, most importantly, an incredible gathering of the community in support of families in need of basic items such as diapers, car seats, clothing and shoes.
After serving 19,000 children in 2011, WestSide Baby has identified areas where the need is not being met – more car seats, diapers, baby wipes, older children’s clothes, strollers and highchairs are needed. “A successful Tea in February will set the stage for planning increased impact for the rest of the year because funds raised directly support our programs and general operating costs. “ states Woodland.
Keynote speaker, Kathy LeMay, author of “The Generosity Plan”, will inspire guests by sharing her personal motto to “do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Teddy Roosevelt. Ms. LeMay will challenge guests to “lead their most generous life, make a lasting difference and positively influence the world’s unwritten future.”
Tickets are $30. Tables for 10 range from $250-$500 and business sponsorship opportunities are available. There will be a program, an opportunity to give and time to socialize too. The suggested minimum donation is $100.
