Teri Ensley, was there to see the outpouring of support for her and the Furry Faces Foundation on Sunday, Jan 22 following the tragic fire in her home, Jan. 9. The event was billed as "Teri's House Party" and was staged at both Feedback Lounge and the Beveridge Place Pub next door located in the Morgan Street Junction.
More than 60 businesses and organizations were contacted by Sara Riehl, with A.A.R.F (Animal Aid and Rescue Foundation) who donated items with a retail value of more than $3000. They blew past that value by well more than $1000 as the bidding on such items as a hand made Little Wing Necklace from Velvetacide Jewelry, 3 hours of organization consulting from Karen Pfeiffer Bush, art prints, wine, and much more.
You can see a partial list of the items donated for auction at the link above.
Feedback Lounge also donated a portion of their entire day's sales of food and beverages to Ensley driving the donation total higher.
Heather Enjaibi, also with AARF said of Ensley," She does a lot of great things in the community, getting pets spayed and neutered, and anything to help people keep animals in their home. She's a tireless activist and she lost everything."
The auction items at the Feedback Lounge were to benefit Ensley herself while the auction proceeds at Beveridge Place Pub go to the Foundation.
Ensley said, "It's amazing how many came out to support us. For me personally, the first three days after the fire were really hard. I was in tears a lot from the loss of my cat, but people came up to me and talked to me and said such nice things, I just had no idea. So, thank you to West Seattle for all your support and caring. We'll get through this. Furry Faces will get through this."
Riehl added, "Thank you everyone, your support has been amazing."
Ensley, even in the midst of the event was still interested in getting out her catch phrase, "It's hip to be snipped!" and asked Kitty Harbor owner Delyn Kosbab to remind everyone, "There are still four kittens available for adoption after the MLK holiday event. We adopted out 47 cats and kittens. If you are interested in meeting them you can call 935-1919 and the four cats that I've been fostering, with maybe some special needs will be available for adoption soon. You can email FurryFaces@hotmail.com for more information."
