The Slalom Glider, a distinctive 6-foot high slide that is curved in shape and made from molded plastic has been recalled after reports of children being injured in falls from the slide. People are asked to keep children from using it. A notice has been posted on the slide and it will be removed Feb. 20 in a voluntary recall.
A children's slide called the Slalom Glider at Myrtle Reservoir Park 6900 35th s.w. has been recalled by the U.S.Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in cooperation with Landscape Structures Inc. The CPSC stated that the slide lacks a transition platform on the top and sides of the chute. This omission has caused a number of children to fall causing serious injuries. They list 14 fractures to arms and legs, a fractured collar bone and bruises.
Landscape Structures Inc. will be working at Myrtle Reservoir Park on Monday, February 20, 2012 to remove the recalled slide.
Landscape Structures is requesting consumers to immediately stop children from using the recalled gliders.

The recalled product comes as a stand-alone slide or as an attachment to other playground equipment.
There is a second slide of this type located at Ross Playground at 4320 4th Ave. NW in the Fremont neighborhood.
Seattle Parks and Recreation is working with Landscape Structure Inc. to select and install an appropriate replacement play element as soon as possible.
