SeaTac homeowner shoots intruder in the head
A SeaTac homeowner shot an intruder in self-defense on the evening of Feb. 21, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.  Around 6:30 p.m. a man living on the 3700 block of S. 191st St. heard a knock at his door followed by ringing of the doorbell. The man decided not to answer the door and shortly after heard the slider breaking on his back door. The man was in his upstairs bedroom and armed himself with a handgun while calling 911. One intruder came into the home and headed upstairs. The homeowner fired his weapon once and struck the suspect in the head. The male suspect was transported to Harborview Hospital in stable condition.  One additional suspect fled the scene. A suspect description was not available.

Stolen vehicle suspect shot by Tukwila police officer
On Feb. 19 around 3:50 p.m. a Tukwila police officer on patrol noticed a stolen vehicle driving on the 14600 block of Tukwila International Blvd.  The officer pulled the vehicle over into a motel parking lot and as he exited his squad car the 29-year-old female suspect from Seattle attempted to run him over.  The officer fired several shots at the driver and the suspect took off northbound.  In the high-speed pursuit that followed the suspect lost control and ran into a citizen’s vehicle.  The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly nabbed and arrested by officers.  She sustained minor injuries from the shooting.  No officers were hurt and the citizen she ran into walked away unscathed.

Burien truck-jacking victim rammed into light pole, injuring gun-wielding suspect
On Feb. 18 around 7 p.m. a man was in his truck with his girlfriend when they saw a man trying to get into a Honda at the intersection of S. 152nd St. and 8th Ave S. in Burien.  The man in the truck locked his doors and tried to drive around the suspect, but the suspect jumped into the back of his truck, started pounding on the roof and rear window while yelling, “Faster, faster!”  When the victim turned around he saw the man had a gun pointed directly at him so he started speeding away and hitting the breaks unpredictably in an attempt to eject the suspect.  Finally, the man ran his truck into a light pole, injuring the 42-year-old suspect.  Police were on the scene by that time and arrested the man.  He was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center.

Officer attacked
Two inmates at the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac have been indicted in a metal-pipe attack that left a corrections officer with severe skull fractures. Sabir Shabazz and Roy Fritts are charged with conspiracy to murder a federal officer and assault in the indictment returned Wednesday in U.S. District Court. They could face up to life in prison. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bruce Miyake says it's not clear why the pair targeted the officer in the Jan. 3rd attack. According to the indictment, they have been planning it since early December. Shabazz, who was facing sex trafficking charges, is accused of hitting the officer with a pipe unscrewed from the sink in his cell. Prosecutors say Fritts was serving time for carjacking, and he stood over the officer armed with a shank. Miyake says the officer underwent surgery for skull fractures and still has not returned to work.
