Roxbury Lanes & Casino is the host on May 5 for "Saving 2nd Base" a 9 pin bowling tournament to promote breast cancer awareness. Roxbury Lanes is located at 2823 SW Roxbury St, Seattle.
The cost is $25 per person and you must be 18 years or older to bowl.
Organizer Victoria Rae said, The $5.00 prize fund in included in the $25.00 entry fee and that is so we can award a first place winner. Depending on the amount of entries there may be additional winning places. Winning / paying prizes will be awarded the out same day after the tournament has been completed and totals have been tallied. Currently we are working with a few hotels regarding a weekend stay get away."
The average will be determined on prior bowling avergages established in the USBC average book if no average is in the books for the last 5 years one will be set.
Rae detailed how the competition works based on bowling averages, "I believe it is set at 130 for a woman with no established average and 160 for a man with no established average. With that, to figure their handicap a woman would get 100% of the diffrence between 200 and her average 130 so 70 pins handicap and a guy would have 160 average with 32 pins handicap =80% of 200."
"It is an event for our team to raise money for the 3 day Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure September 14,15, & 16th," Rae explained.
There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction during the event. "We have a few items that have been donated that we will be be auctioning as well Including a signed picture, autographed by singing star Martina Mcbride and other door prizes," said Rae.
