SLIDESHOW: Automotive skill competition tests high school students at SSCC

South Seattle Community College hosted 60 high school students from around the state on Friday, April 13, 2012, as they demonstrated their knowledge and compete for top honors in the SkillsUSA Washington state championships. Competitors will be on the college campus from 8 am to 1 pm, putting their knowledge and skills to the test in four hands-on competitions:
- Automotive maintenance technology,
- Automotive refinishing technology,
- Automotive service technology, and
- Collision repair.

The competitions are part of the SkillsUSA Washington State Leadership and Skills Conference taking place April 12-14 in Renton. Nearly 1,000 Washington state students will be competing for state championships in over 60 technical and leadership contests at a dozen locations.
Competitors are members of SkillsUSA, a national leadership organization of over 325,000 members. These students are among the top 2% of skilled and technical students throughout our state and the US.
