Suspect named in assault
A suspect has been named in the shotgun beating of an 80-year-old Burien man in an attempted home robbery.
The suspect is Zachary Irish, also known as “Lil Zack.” Despite his nickname, Irish is described as 6 fteet tall. He weighs 165 pounds and is 27 years old.
Irish has a record of burglaries, robberies and domestic violence assaults.
Police say Phil Isernio, 80, returned to his Burien home and surprised Irish and an accomplice.They say Irish hit Isernio in the face with the butt of a shotgun.
Q13 Fox News quotes Isernio as saying, “As soon as I got in the house—bang!—right there. I dropped down on my knees and he came at me again and I blocked it like this and then I started pleading for my life after that, because I knew he meant business—he was going to kill me.”
The other suspect ran away during the incident but was caught later by deputies. Police said Irish escaped.
Burien woman convicted of drug trafficking, money laundering
Svetlana Angel Yim, 30, of Burien was convicted in U.S. District Court of four felony counts connected to laundering millions of dollars of illegal proceeds from the drug distribution conspiracy she managed with her husband. Yim’s husband, Drew Yim, 38, pled guilty in February 2012 to leading a large drug conspiracy that distributed a variety of illegal drugs from Mexico and Canada across the United States. Svetlana Yim purchased property and cars in the names of other people, as well as expensive jewelry, boats and other luxuries. She faces a mandatory minimum of ten years in prison and up to life in prison for two counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and conspiracy to engage in money laundering. Under the terms of his plea agreement, Drew Yim is forfeiting $1.4 million in cash that was seized during the course of the investigation.
Juvenile awarded $300,000 in jail sex case
A Burien man will be awarded $300,000 from King County as part of a court settlement. Five years ago the man, then 17, was coerced into sex with his juvenile jail counselor. Flor-Mari Crisostomo was the mental-health counselor treating the teen after a suicide attempt while he was being held at the King County Youth Detention Center before being convicted of armed robbery. Crisostomo used promises of candy and phone calls to his family if he had sex with her. The counselor was sentenced to 6 months in jail after being convicted of sexual misconduct in February 2009. She is required to register as a sex offender. Her counseling and family therapist licenses have been revoked.
