The West Seattle High School Alumni Assoc. announces 2012/2013 scholarship winners

The West Seattle High School Alumni Association has awarded 7 new and 5 returning scholarships to West Seattle High School graduates for a total of $76,500.
Two of the returning students are college juniors:
RAYMOND CARTER -- ($6,000) Awarded the Clarence and Margaret Duke-Rader Memorial Scholarship. Raymond is a third generation WSHS graduate. He is attending the UW majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in music.
KAREN LOWE -- ($8,000) WSHS Alumni Scholarship attends the UW and is majoring in Bio-Chemistry. Karen’s uncle is a Class of 1958 Alum.
Three students are returning sophomores:
CHRISTIAN CARPIO -- (All expenses) Ross & Viola Galbreath Scholarship. Christian is attending the UW and majoring in Engineering.
LAUREN JEGLUM -- ($3,500) Tim Brenton Scholarship, attending Seattle University in the School of Nursing. She is a second generation WSHS graduate.
MICHAEL SWANSON -- ($8,000) WSHS Alumni Scholarship, attending the UW, majoring in Business and is on the Dean’s List.
Seven graduates from the Class of 2012 received scholarships:
GABRIELA FLORES -- ($6,000) WSHS Alumni Scholarship. Gabriela is the Valedictorian of her class with a 3.86 GPA and SAT of 1930 and will be majoring in Chemistry at the UW.
HAILY HAGE -- ($6,000) WSHS Alumni Scholarship. Haily has a GPA of 3.86 and SAT of 1720 and will be majoring in Engineering at the UW. Haily is a third generation WSHS graduate.
TESSA JINNEMAN -- ($6,000) Received a combination of the Class of 1944 Scholarship, the Class of 1961 Scholarship & a WSHS Alumni Scholarship. Tessa is also a third generation WSHS graduate. Her GPA is 3.68 and will be majoring in Engineering/Theatre Arts at WWU. Her grandfather was Class of 56’, her mother Class of 80’ and two aunts from the Classes of 77’ & 82’.
NAHN NGUYEN -- ($1,500) WSHS Alumni Scholarship has a GPA of 3.67 and will major in Law at the University of San Francisco.
ARLENE ORBINO -- ($1,500) WSHS Alumni Scholarship has a GPA is 3.79 and wants to be a Pediatrician. She will be attending the University of California at San Diego.
MEGAN ORMSBY -- ($6,000) Received a combination of the Alf & Ruth Larsen Scholarship, The Linkous Foundation Scholarship and a WSHS Alumni Scholarship. Megan has a 3.87 GPA and SAT of 1790, is a third generation West Seattleite and will major in Business at the UW.
RANDALL (OZZIE) STEFANOVITCH -- ($1,000) Received the Carol Wakefield Memorial Scholarship. Ozzie earned a 3.08 GPA, plans to attend Green River Community College and will major in Business.
