press release:
Neighborhood House has promoted Miryam Laytner to the role of Director of Development and Advancement, effective Sept. 1, 2012. A Neighborhood House employee for three years, Laytner previously worked as the agency’s Public Grants Manager, responsible for overseeing the preparation and submittal of major grant proposals across all of Neighborhood House’s departments. Laytner will take her breadth of experience from her previous role, as well as her creative energy and good humor, into her new position as the chief of Neighborhood House’s fundraising, development and advancement efforts.
“Miryam’s work has been vital to our efforts to fund and expand our programs that serve low-income communities,” said Executive Director Mark Okazaki. “She has been instrumental in the planning of our High Point PROMISE initiative, and has brought home millions in public funds that go directly to support the individuals and families that we serve.”
Laytner came to Neighborhood House from the Tacoma Housing Authority, where for two years she assisted in grant writing and procurement. The experience gave her insight into how support services make a difference in the lives of low-income tenants. It’s also what made her interested in working for Neighborhood House.
“I’ve always had the belief that affordable housing is critical,” said Laytner. “But it’s the supportive services that you get living in affordable housing that really help you transform your life.”
“We’re proud to welcome Miryam to our team of directors, and look forward to employing her leadership and vision as we embark upon our next generation of work,” Okazaki said.
