1:45 a.m., September 16. 90th block of Dayton Ave N

Two pedestrians were hospitalized after being hit by a truck on September 16th. The victims were standing by their cars when a pickup truck veered toward them and crashed into them. The driver initially stopped, but then drove away. The victims were treated at the scene by Seattle Fire and then transported to Harborview Medical Center, where it was determined that their injuries were less serious than had first been thought. The driver of the truck had not been found at the time of the Seattle Police report.

4:00 p.m., September 14. 90th block of Greenwood Ave N

A standoff between a suspect and a SWAT team was peacefully resolved on the afternoon of September 14th. The victim woke up at approximately 9:00 that morning to find the suspect in her apartment. The two had previously been in a relationship and they have a child, who was also at the residence. At first the suspect refused to let the victim leave, but she was eventually able to get away with her child and call 911. Neither the victim nor her child was injured.

Officers arrived at the scene to find that the suspect was still there and still refusing to leave. Negotiators spoke with the suspect for several hours but were unable to convince him to leave the apartment. At approximately 4:00 that afternoon, SWAT team members approached the apartment door, spoke with the suspect, and convinced him to surrender. He was taken into custody without further incident and then transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. He may face charges of burglary, harassment, and unlawful imprisonment.

1:30 a.m., September 14. 57th block of 24th Ave NW

Police responded to reports of a burglary at a grocery store that had occurred late at night on September 14th. The complainant said that the suspects forced open a delivery door and then used a pallet to keep it open. The burglars stole several cases of beer and chips. The burglary was caught on the store’s surveillance cameras. Some store employees said that they recognized one of the suspects and believed the individual may have been involved in a similar incident in the past.

8:24 p.m., September 13. 64th block of 8th Ave NW

Police responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Ballard Goodwill on the evening of September 13th. The victim, a cashier, said that he was at his register when the suspect approached him, put two dollars on the counter, and said that he wanted to pay for some candy. When the victim opened the cash register, the suspect pointed a silver semi-automatic handgun at him and demanded the twenties in the register. He grabbed the bills and then left the store, got on a bicycle, and rode away. The victim described the suspect as a white male in his early or mid thirties, 5’10” with a medium build and dark brown hair. The suspect was wearing a white or yellow shirt and jeans. Police conducted an area search but did not locate the suspect. There may be surveillance footage of the incident.

1:46 a.m., September 13. 90th block of Holman Rd NW

Police responded to reports of an armed robbery at a convenience store in the middle of the night on September 13th. The victim, a cashier, said that he was working in the back room when he heard a customer enter the store. He returned to the main room and saw a black male wearing a black North Face jacket with the hood up, black pants, and black shoes. The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the victim, then grabbed him and pushed the gun to his head, forcing him to walk toward the cash register.

The victim said that he saw another suspect, who he described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue bandana over his face. Both suspects wore gloves. The second suspect was loading cigarettes into a bag. The first suspect forced the victim to open the cash register and then told him to lie on the floor. The second suspect moved toward the register, and the two suspects took the cash as well as a pile of lottery tickets. The robbery was completed in under two minutes.

At the time of the robbery the victim thought that both suspects had guns, but after looking at surveillance footage he was not sure if the second suspect was armed. The surveillance video shows the first suspect’s face. K9 units attempted to locate the suspects but were unsuccessful.
