SLIDESHOW: 10th Annual WCCDA fundraiser dinner touts success and celebrates community

The White Center Community Developement Association held their 10th annual fundraising dinner at Jerry Brockey Center on the Campus of South Seattle Community College Friday, Sept. 21 with King County Councilmember Larry Gossett as the keynote speaker. More than 300 people attended the event
Gossett spoke about the success in the efforts to connect businesses and of bringing community together by the WCCDA.
WCCDA director Sili Savusa spoke about the outstanding acheivements over the last 10 years and of the resident led and community driven meetings and the overall vision of the organization.
The very lively, live auction featured some items for more than $500.
Ana and Aminta from the Salvadorean Bakery spoke thanking the White Center community for their direct involvement in the success of the bakery and expanding to Bellevue.
The Taiko drummers performed and the lion dance was offered to bring prosperity and good luck.
The Ah-Siu sisters did a traditional dance.
Maria Zarraonandia spoke movingly about how she went from having nothing, no money, job, or options to volunteering at WCCDA and then being offered a job, to being the FC Ambassador. Now she works with some 50 families
The remarkable fruit carving at the event was done by Thary Pen.
