'57 Chevy recovered
The turquoise 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible stolen Sept. 22 from Burien City Garage at 14926 Ambaum Blvd. SW, owned by the owner of the garage, Duane Quande, was recovered, thanks to Burien detectives, and a tip from a Colorado Springs man. There was no damage to the car. The car was recovered in the SeaTac garage of the man who allegedly stole it. The suspect allegedly offered the Colorado Springs man to trade the Chevy for a car the Colorado Springs man advertised. That man recognized the car from photos and tipped police.

Man shot in Des Moines
According to Des Moines police, two armed men broke into a Des Moines home Monday, Oct. 29, at about 11 p.m. and shot a resident.
The suspects allegedly forced their way into the home in the 1300 block of South 251 Street and demanded money from the man and woman living there. A fight broke out between the man and a suspect and the man was shot in the abdomen and pistol-whipped. The suspects left the home after the shooting.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The woman was not injured. One of the suspects is in his late twenties, with shaved a shaved head or close-cut hair and an unshaven face with red hair.
Des Moines police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 206-878-3301.

Drugs suspected in collision
According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, a violent two-car accident on wet roads near the intersection of 19th SW and Kent-Des Moines Road resulted in two people being taken to Harborview hospital where at last report they were in serious condition Oct. 31. According to deputies the suspect and victim were both injured when their vehicles collided. Drugs are suspected.

Agitated woman rescued
South King Fire and Rescue reports that a distraught swimmer was rescued off the Redondo pier in Des Moines. Rescue crews responded to a 911 call at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, to investigate a woman swimming in the Puget Sound, about 300 feet offshore. Crews from Tacoma, Burien and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the rescue.
Rescue team members utilized two local rowboats and, along with Des Moines police officers, made their way to the woman.
The woman appeared angry, and threatened to overturn the rowboats while cursing at rescuers. Firefighters backed away and monitored the woman’s condition with a South King rescue swimmer ready to intervene if necessary, according to the news release.
The Tacoma Fire Boat arrived and brought the woman on board. She was transported to the Redondo boat launch for a medical evaluation, then was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
