Gun stashed in backpack
Burien Police responded to a call at the Burien Social Security Office, 151 S.W. 156 St. Dec. 11, at 2:25 p.m. to find a 36 year-old man said to be homeless with a gun in his backpack, according to Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff's Office. When the suspect entered, the security officer asked to check his backpack and the suspect said it contained a gun. The security officer retrieved the gun prompting a fight until the guard got the suspect under control. Sgt. West said a King County deputy arrived and turned the case over to Homeland Security.
Tukwila man pleads guilty
Miguel A. Sanchez-Palomares, 31, of Tukwila, who was arrested Oct. 25 thanks to an undercover investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, pleaded guilty Tuesday, Dec. 11, to making, possessing and selling fraudulent immigration documents.
A Mexican citizen, he will be sentenced March 15 when prosecutors will recommend a sentence of 18 months in prison under a plea agreement.
According to prosecutors, investigators discovered a package containing fake identity documents at a mail sorting facility and started to investigate Sanchez-Palomares. The intended recipient who had also been living illegally in the U.S. said Sanchez-Palomares was a major Seattle-area counterfeiter of such IDs.
According to prosecutors, Sanchez-Palomares sold multiple false identity documents, primarily Permanent Resident Cards or Green Cards to a person working with law enforcement between August and October.
When agents searched Sanchez-Palomares’ Tukwila apartment Oct. 25 they confiscated 72 fraudulent cards. Officers also seized computer equipment for making the IDs.
Man arrested for assault
A husband and wife got into a verbal argument just after midnight. That escalated to a physical altercation. The husband punched his wife twice in the face and then bit a piece out of her face.
All this happened while their two children were asleep in another room. The husband was arrested and booked for investigation of aggravated assault.
