I don’t have time for this
A few weeks back on Jan. 31, a woman was walking on 15th Ave. S.W. towards S.W. Roxbury St. shortly before 7 a.m. when she got an uneasy feeling as two men halted their conversation and became quiet as she approached. She decided to cross the street to avoid a close encounter, but one of the men intercepted her at an angle. The woman told police she told the man, “I don’t have time for this (expletive), leave me alone,” to which the suspect laughed, popped open an umbrella he was carrying to distract his victim, and then grabbed the shoulder strap of her bag. A struggle ensued as the suspect attempted to pull the woman by the strap to the sidewalk. She turned her head briefly and saw the other man coming towards her. Springing into action, the woman said she grabbed her assailant by the jacket and pushed him back, knocking him off balance. Not quite finished, she stomped on his foot and hit him square in the face with an open palm, causing the suspect to let go of the strap, grab his face and say, “Oh.” She ran to the bus stop and was able to board a bus that had just arrived. The man who grabbed the purse strap is described as a light-skinned unknown race male around 5’10 with a slight build. He was wearing a black nylon jacket with a pink shirt underneath, carrying a large “golf-style” umbrella, and was missing a front tooth on the right side. The other suspect was an unknown race male wearing a red jacket with black shoulders and a dark “Elmer Fudd-style” hat. The victim told police she feared the men would attempt retribution for their failed robbery attempt and her successful self-defense.

Not boyfriend material
On Feb. 2, a woman living in an apartment complex on the 3000 block of S.W. Bradford St. awoke around 4:30 a.m. to noise in her living room. Using the light emanating from her phone as a flashlight, she investigated and discovered a man crouched down next to her bookshelf looking directly at her. The man apparently fled at that time, the woman called police, and responding officers found their suspect on the fourth floor of the complex. The suspect told police he had just been kicked out of his girlfriend’s apartment and said he had keys to the unit. The woman told police that not only was the man certainly not her boyfriend, but she had never seen him before. He was arrested and taken to King County Jail.
