2:01 a.m., March 3. 83rd block of 27th Ave NW

A woman called police after she returned home to find that her house had been burglarized and some jewelry was missing. The victim said that she left the house at around 7:00 p.m. on March 2 and returned at around 12:30 a.m. on March 3 to find her bedroom window open. The burglar had cut the window screen to gain entry, and then stole a gold chain and a gold ring. The responding officer observed that the window had been pried open, but he was unable to lift any fingerprints.

11:12 p.m., March 2. 73rd block of 14th Ave NW

A woman called police after she had been in her home for half an hour and realized that it had been burglarized. The victim said that she arrived home at around 10:45 p.m. on March 2, but it wasn’t until about half an hour later that she noticed signs of the burglary: Drawers in the bedrooms were open and her belongings were strewn about the bedrooms.

The victim had entered through the locked front door, but she later discovered that the back door was unlocked and open. She said that she had closed the door when she left, but it might have been unlocked. She then left her house and went to her sister’s home, which was nearby.

Despite rifling through the victim’s house, the burglar only took $60 in belongings and $115 in cash and change from two bedrooms. The responding officers lifted a palm print from a window on the inside of the back door.

9:27 a.m., February 28. 8th block of NW 54th St

A man called police after his garage was burglarized overnight. The victim said he believed that when he closed his garage door, the sensor detected a piece of cardboard on the ground and reopened. In the morning he realized his garage door had been open all night. Several power tools had been stolen. The victim said that a house three houses to the west has been the site of a lot of criminal activity and police were often called there. Police later verified this information.

6:19 a.m., February 28. 26th block of NW 58th St

A man called police after he caught two men in the act of stealing several items from his garage. The victim said he was leaving his apartment when he heard the door to his shared garage close. At first he believed it was his neighbor, but then he walked out and saw two white males in their 20s walking off with his basketball and his son’s skateboard. The victim confronted the suspects and told them to give him his belongings, at which point they dropped the basketball and skateboard and walked away.

Police examined the garage, but none of the victim’s other belongings seemed to be disturbed. The victim’s neighbor had parked her car in the garage, and police saw that the suspects had taken everything out of the glove box and spread it around the front seat. It was unclear whether anything had been taken. Officers believed the suspects entered the garage using the garage door opener in the lobby of the apartment building. One of the officers was able to almost open the door with little effort.

12:02 p.m., February 27. 87th block of Greenwood Ave N

Police responded to reports that two suspects had stolen $200 worth of alcohol from the Greenwood Safeway on the afternoon of February 27. The complainant said that he had recognized the male suspect from previous incidents. The suspect had been detained multiple times for trespassing and shoplifting, and the complainant said security officers would be able to identify him.

In the current incident, the suspect was accompanied by a female suspect. Both suspects had rolling backpacks. The complainant said that the suspects put two large bottles of alcohol into their backpacks, then went and got two or three bottles of a different kind of liquor and concealed those as well.

The complainant then confronted the male suspect and told him that he was not supposed to be in the store and that both of the suspects needed to put the alcohol back. He said that the suspect denied taking anything and said he was just leaving. The two suspects left the store, taking the alcohol with them.

The male suspect is described as white, about 50 years of age, with tattoos on his neck and face, including teardrop tattoos by both eyes. The female suspect is described as white, in her 40s and about 5’4”. The incident was caught on surveillance video.
