It's time for the monthly Ballard District Council this Wednesday, 7 p.m. at the Ballard Branch Library.
While there are no heavy-hitting guest stars this time around, you will get the chance to meet your new community officer Tim Wear (a fond farewell to Scott McGlashan, who alas took a different job, though he served us well); hear about proposals for the Neighborhood Street Fund; and listen to Ballard Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mike Stewart talk about a partnership with Smart Growth.
As usual -- well, despite my hiatus last month -- I will be there.
Parking is available underneath the library. Public is welcome.
AGENDA
7:00 Introductions & Short Announcements - please hold announcements to not more than one min.
7:15 Introducing Officer Tim Wear
Tim is an SPD North Precinct CPT (Community Police Team) officer recently assigned to work specifically on those difficult issues here in the Ballard district. He is a 28-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department; having worked in almost every facet of local law enforcement. Tim replaces Officer Scott McGlashan who was our CPT Officer in Ballard for the past 2+ years. Scott has accepted an assignment with Seattle Harbor patrol. We may see him off shore.
7:25 2013 NPSF (Neighborhood Park Street Fund)
Annually, the City of Seattle provides $1.25M citywide to fund small scale improvements to Seattle streets and parks. Each of Seattle’s 13 districts is provided approx $90K from this program to fund projects in their district. Proposals come from community groups and individuals. The 2013 funding cycle attracted five proposals in the Ballard district. We must now select only three of these five which will be further evaluated by Seattle DOT or Seattle Parks for cost and feasibility. The analysis of those three projects will then come back to Ballard DC in July of this year; at which time we will assign a priority order for our top three projects.
Each of the five proponents will be allowed up to five minutes to present their project idea. The Ballard DC NPSF Review Committee (Colin Dietrich, Joe Wert, Kirk Robbins) will then present their recommendation for Council consideration; followed by balloting of Ballard DC member organization representatives.
