If you have walked down Market St recently, you may have seen the papered off windows of Zak's, the burger joint that was most recently owned by the folks behind Yozen, the self-serve frozen yogurt place.
Well, don't fear, for where one burger joint falls, a new one from its ashes shall rise like a phoenix.
In another move that makes Ballard look increasingly like Capitol Hill, Li'l Woody's burgers and, yes, Molly Moon's icecream will be opening a new joint location at the Zak's pad. What hits the spot better during the summer than burgers and icecream? Uh, nothing.
Owners say they will be opening before the summer rolls in and, judging from their press release quotes, they sound excited:
“Ballard is just the perfect fit for a Li’l Woody’s,” says Marcus Lalario, owner of Li'l Woody's. “The unique combination of families and nightlife is the ideal spot for our delicious food-- we are super excited to be a part of this neighborhood.”
“I can’t wait to bring the fun and super delicious pairing of Li’l Woody’s burgers and Molly Moon’s shakes to Ballard,” says Miss Moon herself. “And with Marcus’ new location being even bigger than his Capitol Hill spot, I’m excited that we can bring an expanded ice cream menu to such a lively neighborhood. We’ve been getting emails from Ballard-ites for YEARS asking for a Molly Moon’s of their very own.”
If you don't know, Li'l Woody's has received quite the burger reputation, including winner of 2013’s Seattle Weekly Burger Battle and Seattle Magazine Best Burger (reader's choice) 2012. It's also a favorite spot for local artists and musicians (Macklemore, The Cave Singers) to create their own “signature burgers” (Heist Burger and People’s Burger, respectively). Ballard will be the second location for Li’l Woody’s.
Li’l Woody’s/Molly Moon's will be open every day from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., except Sunday when it will close at 10 p.m. Late night hours coming soon.
