Another piece of Old Ballard is fading away as the Nielson Bros. Carpets building (2031 NW 56th St), is being torn down.
Nielson Bros., which closed down back in December, 2012, had been in Ballard since 1946.
In it's place? Street level parking with 27 spaces, according to Department of Planning and Development's Land Use Information Bulletin.
We called up Nielson Bros. and they said Wells Fargo had bought the property. "We believed they were going to continue to lease us, but once it was finalized they gave us the boot within 30 days."
Nielson Bros., which still has a store in Bellevue, Burien and Lynnwood, is still looking for a new place in Seattle.
