The following notice was sent out by Seattle Public Utilities on May 28, 2013.
SPU crews will work in your neighborhood to replace an undersized water main
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) crews will work in your neighborhood to replace 80 feet of an undersized, six-inch water main. In order to perform this work, crews will need to temporarily shut down water services.
You will be notified at least 48 hours in advance before your water is shut down and crews will work with residents to schedule shut-downs with minimal impact. Water shut-downs typically last up to six hours.
PROJECT LOCATIONS:
Crews will work along 55th Avenue SW between SW Lander and Alki Avenue SW.
DATES/TIMES:
• Crews will begin working on Friday, May 31, to saw cut the street where the pipe will be replaced. They will return on Monday, June 3, and expect to complete the job by Friday, June 7. Work will take place weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm.
IMPACTS:
• Temporary interruption in water services.
• Traffic impacts due to street closure along 55th Avenue SW between SW Lander and Alki Avenue SW
• Parking restrictions in the project area.
• Noise from the power equipment used to dig, break and remove concrete, and cut water main pipe.
