Update, July 2
Just in the nick of time, with just a few hours left, donors inched over the pledge goal of $6,000 for the Anchor Our Ballard SeafoodFest Kickstarter.
This means Ballard will get its own comic book and its own superhero. Expect to see more of our squid-fighting, anchor-inspired, orange-and-yellow clad hero in the future.
Update, July 1
There are only 38 hours left in the Kickstarter campaign to help fund the SeafoodFest-related Anchor project. Read below for details. You can make a pledge and view more details at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2107581658/anchor-our-ballard-a-bal…

Anchor Our Ballard!
It's the battlecry of Ballard's very own superhero, The Anchor, who you may have seen around the neighborhood at Hattie's Hat, Golden Gardens and elsewhere. It is his goal to make this year's SeafoodFest the best SeafoodFest ever.
But he needs your help. Or so says the Ballard Chamber of Commerce, who have started a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a new Anchor-inspired comic book and The Live Anchor Project, which will support The Anchor's appearances around Ballard "spreading the Ballard spirit." (Basically this means in addition to having its own superhero, Ballard will have its very own comic book.) Currently the Kickstarter is only halfway through to its goal, with $3,550 pledged toward a total of $6,000 which must be met by Tuesday, July 2.
Here's a message from the Kickstarter:
"We know you love Ballard. We know you love superheroes. You love the concept of wrestling a giant squid or even a chair in the quest for truth. We know that you, like most Ballard denizens, have a giant sense of fun and a twinkle in your eye. Please support your very own community and give what you can to support this new comic book project and the Live Anchor project, too. It’s one that we hope to build throughout the years. With your help, we will."
