UPDATE 2: Two arrested in West Seattle carjacking; But case has gotten confusing
Tue, 07/02/2013
A carjacking that took place on July 2, led to the arrest of two suspects but that's the simple part. Police now say that the man who pulled a gun during a Tuesday evening robbery might have been trying to get back some stolen auto parts.
The Seattle Police Blotter said, "At about 4:15 pm, police received a report of a six-person brawl in the parking lot of a Subway near 38th Ave. and Delridge Way SW. As officers headed to the scene, they received information that a man involved in the melee had brandished a handgun just before two people involved in the fight had stolen a white 1982 Toyota Corolla and fled the scene.
As police were trying to sort out the incident, one suspected carjacker actually called 911 and said he wanted to meet up with officers.
Officers went to several different homes around West Seattle looking for the suspected carjacker, who had called 911. During the search, officers briefly detained two people at a home near 5th Ave SW and SW Thistle Street, where the two people told police the suspected carjacker had gone to the Subway earlier that day to meet a man and buy back some stolen car parts the carjacker had found posted for sale online."
The parts were easily identifiable because they were from a highly customized car.
Once they recognized the parts, according to police "the suspect and several other men pulled a gun on the sellers and stole a car they believed had been outfitted with stolen parts."
"Police impounded two cars as part of the investigation and are still looking for a third vehicle involved in the incident and detectives are working to determine whether the victims in this case were in fact in possession of stolen car parts."
Update for 6 p.m.
Police said they have arrested two suspects in a carjacking that took place on Delridge Way S.W. this afternoon.
More details are expected this evening.
