High Schools
Football
Football practices opened last Wednesday and will continue through opening day on Friday, Sept. 6.
Evergreen will host Chief Sealth for an 8 p.m. game that night, following a 5 p.m. game between Mount Rainier and Auburn-Riverside.
Evergreen Lutheran visits Seattle Lutheran for 7 p.m. action at West Seattle Stadium, while Highline goes to Yelm, Foster to Bremerton and Kennedy to Mount Si at the same starting time.
West Seattle will be at Fife for a 7 p.m. game.
All other fall sports begin practices this Monday.
Colleges
Football
The University of Washington will play its first game at refurbished Husky Stadium this coming Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
Washington State University, meanwhile, is at Auburn University in Alabama for 4 p.m. action.
Pro Sports
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle plays its final preseason game of the year Thursday, hosting the Oakland Raiders for 7 p.m. action at CenturyLink Field.
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners host the Texas Rangers for 7:10 p.m. action Monday and Tuesday of this week before playing them again in a 12:40 p.m. game Wednesday.
Then its on the road to Houston for four games against the Astros. Action starts at 5:05 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 4:05 p.m. Saturday. Sunday's game starts at 11:05 p.m.
Tacoma Rainiers
This is the final week of the regular season for the Seattle Mariners' Class AAA affiliate.
Tacoma hosts Salt Lake City for 7 p.m. games Monday through Thursday before entertaining Sacramento at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 1:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm women's professional basketball team visits San Antonio for 5 p.m. action Tuesday before entertaining Connecticut at 7 p.m. Thursday at the KeyArena.
Seattle goes on the road again Saturday to play Minnesota at 5 p.m.
Seattle Sounders
Seattle goes to Columbus for a 4:30 p.m. match against the Crew on Saturday.
Seattle Thunderbirds
Seattle plays its last intrasquad match Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Showare Center in Kent.
