A large sinkhole opened up along S 96th St and 8th Ave S in South Park due to the overwhelming rainstorm overnight Sept. 5-6. It's approximately 20 feet long, 7 feet wide and 5 feet deep.
The spot was recently an issue at the end of June where a small dip in the road formed. A road crew from King County came out and fixed it in July. Overnight the sinkhole opened up in that same spot but this time was a lot worse. No announcement has been made as yet on when the road will reopen.
Traffic is currently being routed around it.
A water main is also affected by the sinkhole and is potentially involved in the pavement collapse but that has not yet been determined.
