Update for Sept. 19
Police now say the same man that exposed himself to Holy Rosary students on Sept. 18 may have done the same at Westside School, both located in West Seattle.

Here are the details from SPD Det. Jeff Kappel:

On September 18th at approximately 5:12 p.m. officers arrived on scene at Westside School located in the 7700 block of 34th Avenue SW. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 7-year-old girl was out on the playground for her afternoon recess. The playground is well elevated above the street level.

The girl was at the east fence south of the intersection of 32nd Avenue SW and SW Holden Street. The girl looked down and saw the suspect sitting in his car, which was parked on the west side of 32nd Avenue SW facing northbound. The suspect was wearing a red t-shirt but no pants. The girl then went back to playing with her friends but did not report the incident to any of the school staff.

The girl went home after school and told her father about the incident, who subsequently called the school to report it (this was approximately four hours after the incident occurred). School staff called 911 and officers responded to the school to investigate further.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30′s or 40′s with short dark hair, normal to slender build and a scruffy-looking beard. The suspect was sitting in a beat-up small black car with body damage.

Sexual Assault Unit detectives are actively investigating this incident along with two other incidents that have occurred within the last 10 days.

It is possible that all three incidents involve the same suspect. Detectives believe that it is likely the same suspect is involved in the two incidents that occurred on September 18th.

For the second time in nine days, an unknown male has exposed himself to Holy Rosary schoolchildren while they were out playing at recess.

Det. Renee Witt with Seattle Police said detectives are not certain in the same man is responsible for both crimes, but they are looking into that possibility.

The first incident occurred on Sept. 9 at the West Seattle school located at 4142 S.W. 42nd Ave. S.W., and details can be found here.

Here are the details released by Seattle police for the second incident on Sept. 18:

Officers are on the lookout for a man who exposed himself to school children on a playground in West Seattle today. On September 18th at approximately 11:40 a.m. officers responded to Holy Rosary School located in the 4100 block of 42nd Avenue SW for reports of a suspicious man exposing himself to school children.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a school staff member was monitoring the children at recess. Three 14 year old girls approached the recess monitor and told her that a strange man had been watching them from his vehicle. The girls first noticed the man was parked on 41st Avenue SW. As he watched the girls, he held a cell phone near his face as if he was taking pictures or videotaping them. The girls thought he was suspicious so they moved to another part of the playground. The suspect then repositioned his car to be closer to the girls. From where the girls were they could see the driver’s side of the car. The door was open and the suspect was naked from the waist down. The girls immediately ran to notify the recess monitor. As they did this the suspect sped off westbound on SW Dakota Street.

The whole incident occurred very quickly, lasting a couple of minutes. The suspect was gone upon the arrival of responding officers. The investigating officers reminded school staff and students to be alert of any suspicious activity and report it to police immediately.
