The 2-4 Seattle Lutheran Saints had a happy homecoming as they took on the winless Chief Leschi Warriors at West Seattle Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Hampered with injuries throughout the season, the Saints put a strong team on the field. The Saints attacked from the opening kick-off, and it was #32 Abijah Smith who answered the first call. Smith, who was out earlier this season due to a bell ringing head-to-head tackle in game 1, was back in full form. Taking the ball on the first 3 plays from scrimmage, Smith took the Saints 60 yards and put them on the board in the first minute of the game and had his first of his 3 TD's in the game.

One possession later, the Saints #5 Grant Doerr got the call as QB Cody Jones connected with him on a pass for Doerr's first of two TD's to put Seattle Lutheran up 14-0.

The Warriors came with an unorthodox game plan, faking almost every punt. At 5:40 in the first, Seattle Lutheran #4 JJ Young intercepted a pass off a fake punt and scored, making it 20-0.

Just when the game looked like a blow-out, the tide turned in the 2nd quarter. Following a fumble on the 1 yard line by Smith, the Warriors put together a drive down to the Saints 30 yard line. On fourth down, they fake punted again...this time successfully and the Warriors were on the board with a TD pass to CL #23 Solo Augkhopinee.

On the following possession, the Warriors picked a Saints pass and it looked like the game was heading in the other direction. The cleared the Seattle fog from their heads, got out of their funk and turned on the juice again. They went to Smith one more time for a TD making it 26-6 at half time.

The Second half was all Seattle Lutheran - Smith, Doer and Young again. A 26 yard pass to Young and another to Doerr in the third quarter made it 39-6. Smith put the icing on the cake in the 4th quarter, maybe working off the adrenaline from being named homecoming king...he intercepted a pass and ran it for a TD, making the final 46-6.

The Saints, behind QB Cody Jones, put up 107 passing yards and 170 rushing yards.

Abijah Smith had 169 yards and 3 TD's, Grant Doerr had 81 yards on 6 receptions and 2 TD's, and JJ Young had a 56 yard rushing TD and a 27 yard interception return for a total of two scores.

The Saints are now 3-4, and travel next week for their final game of the season against Tacoma Baptist, Friday at 7:00 PM.
