An armed robber, who threatened people with a gun aboard a Metro bus in West Seattle was stopped in his tracks by men aboard the bus who tackled him and held him down until police arrived.
The incident began shortly after 6:00pm when the mask wearing suspect, who had boarded the bus in downtown Seattle, stood up when the bus reached the 6000 block of California Ave. S.W. in West Seattle and according to the Seattle Police report, "brandished a handgun and began pointing the gun at people’s heads and robbing them."
After he had robbed at least three people some male passengers confronted the suspect and "tackled him to the floor, holding him down until officers arrived." He was arrested and put in the back seat of patrol car.
The suspect is 19 years old according to police.
But he wasn't done causing trouble
"Once in the back seat of the police car the suspect became violent again, kicking out the plexiglas window partition in the police car. Officers gained control of the suspect and transferred him to a prisoner transport van.
The suspect was subsequently booked into the King County Jail on three counts of Armed Robbery. Additional charges may be pending.
The suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene and placed into evidence. This remains an active and on-going robbery investigation."
