REMINDER: Celtic Swell will celebrate 10 years and Pets & Their People St. Paddy's weekend
Mon, 03/03/2014
One of the more colorful events (especially if you favor the color green) in West Seattle every year is the arrival of St. Patrick's Day. The Celtic Swell Irish Pub on Alki at 2722 Alki Ave. S.W. will celebrate 10 years of operation on Monday Mar. 17 but the weekend prior is an all Irish celebration plus their "Pets and Their People" costume contest.
Here's the Celtic Swell's press release:
Labs dressed-up like leprechauns! Shar peis with sheleighleighs! Bulldogs boasting bagpipes! There’s no telling what you’ll see when Alki’s Celtic Swell Irish Pub celebrates 10 years in West Seattle with its annual St. Patrick’s Day “Pets & Their People” Costume Contest featuring a photo booth and prizes - all to benefit the Seattle Humane Society. The family and pet-friendly event is a must-do for everyone seeking festive and memorable St. Paddy’s Day fun.
Hosted by local legend and Almost Live! Alum, Tracey Conway, guests are encouraged to dress up their pets (and themselves) in St. Pat’s day garb, mug it up Irish-style in the Celtic Swell’s photo booth and win incredible prizes donated by some of West Seattle’s favorite local businesses. All donations will benefit the Seattle Humane Society. While waiting to see who wins the grand prize, the Jamisons will entertain the crowd with Irish music all afternoon.
With two Siberian Huskies of his own, Celtic Swell owner (and true Irishman who built the pub himself) Gareth Hughes says the costume contest and the cause is a natural fit for the Swell. “This year proudly marks our 10th anniversary in West Seattle. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned for certain during the last 10 years it’s that the people in West Seattle love their pets, they really are a part of our family! The costume contest was a huge hit last year and supports such a valuable cause. So many of our friends begged us to bring it back that we couldn’t’ say no! There’s just no better way to get your entire family in on the fun of St. Paddy’s day than by dressing up yourself, your kids and your pets in green and spending the day at an authentic Irish pub!”

About The Celtic Swell:
Established in 2004, and located on famed Alki Beach in West Seattle, Owner Gareth Hughes, born and raised in Armagh, Northern Ireland, built the Celtic Swell with the desire to bring a little piece of Ireland to you. Serving up a large selection of Irish food, whiskey and beers, customers swear that the Celtic Swell serves “the best pint of Guinness outside of Ireland.” And, just like in Ireland, the whole family is warmly welcome. All of the Celtic Swell’s delicious menu items are made in-house and prepared to order. All of the traditional Irish dishes served are based on Gareth family recipes using fresh local Northwest ingredients.
