Brick to window yields Mac Book Pro
On Mar. 1 at the 800 block of Northwest 49th Street a building owner notified police that a south side window had been broken. The building owner had responded to reports from tenants and called the police. The suspect had thrown a brick through a window and the hole was wide enough for the suspect to take a Mac Book Pro. The computer was on a desk abutting the window making easy access for the suspect. No fingerprints were recovered.

Escape route blocked by child proof door
Mar. 1 police responded to a burglary at the 7000 block of 25th Avenue Northwest where the complainant told police that an alarm company had notified him of a breach in his back sliding door of his home. When he arrived to his home he noticed his sliding door ajar and the kitchen window was open. The complainant confirmed that the only thing missing was a small safe he kept in his office. He could not report the safe contents. Police determined suspect entered through the kitchen window and left the same way. They reported the suspect tried to leave through the back sliding door but could not negotiate the child lock on the door. They believe the suspect used a pry bar to open the window. Police found a ceramic mug that had been moved by the suspect and submitted it for prints.

Wood pallets pilfered by thief with bolt pinchers
Mar. 1 at the 8700 block o f Holman Road Northwest police responded to a reported burglary to a business. The complainant, an employee, reported to police that when he came to work he noticed the back gate to the storage gate was ajar. He saw that the pad lock to the gate had been cut and that wood pallets had been taken. He told the manager that this had been an ongoing problem and the manager told him to call the police. The complainant said nothing else had been taken. Police were unable to recover any evidence.

Filcher inspired by Oceans 11
Feb. 27 at the 1400 block o f Northwest 70th Street police responded to a burglary at a restaurant. The owner met officers at the front of the store and showed officers that the suspect had tried to unscrew a substantial lock on the front door. The alarm had been triggered before the suspect could fully unhinge the lock. There was very minimal damage and the owner said they planned to just screw the lock back on. The owner said that no entry had been gained and nothing was missing.
