West Seattle secured the Metro League's No. 3 berth into the Sea-King District Tournament with Thursday's win at Lower Woodland Park.
The Wildcats will return to the same complex for the Sea-King tournament -- and will open with a 2 p.m. Wednesday game against cross-neighborhood rival Chief Sealth. The Seahawks enter as the No. 8 seed out of the Metro League.
Wednesday's winner advances to play again at 4 p.m. and the loser is out.
The winner is also assured of playing at least a 2 p.m. game on the final day of the tournament Thursday.
Gabby Wenn fired a four-hit shutout for the Wildcats against Nathan Hale, striking out 16.
Blanchet 1, Chief Sealth 0
Chief Sealth settled for the No. 8 seed with Thursday's narrow defeat at the hands of Bishop Blanchet at the Lower Woodland Park complex.

The Wildcats came up just short of a Metro League championship game berth with Wednesday's loss to Holy Names at Lower Woodland Park.
Seattle Prep 25, Chief Sealth 1
Seattle Prep pounded the Seahawks in Wednesday's action, also at Lower Woodland Park.
Baseball
Bainbridge 10, Chief Sealth 7
Chief Sealth's season ended with Wednesday's loss to Bainbridge Island at Steve Cox Memorial Park (Mel Olson Stadium) in White Center.
Bainbridge went on to take third place in the tournament with a 5-4 victory over Lakeside Thursday.
