A pregnancy is a fleeting event in a lifetime. For many women it's a time like no other with a rush of memories and mixed emotions that results in pure love. But for local business person Laura Marie Peters, that time in a woman's life seemed like an opportunity.

She and her daughters operate Belli Vita whose mission is to create plaster casts of the bellies of pregnant women, then create blown glass or porcelain molds from them in extraordinary colors and patterns. The baby's name is inscribed on the bowl and often photos are taken after the birth of the baby in the bowl. It's a commemoration of the pregnancy, and a way to honor both mother and child. Peters also does casts of a woman's torso.

Since we first covered her business in 2011, she has begun offering a kit you can order to do the casting process yourself at home.

Peters has recently been getting the attention of some famous names (we can't mention them just yet), who are using the process too.

On May 27 she and her daughters were featured in a segment of New Day Northwest on King 5 TV with Margaret Larson. As part of the segment she presented a bowl to client, who had requested that it be done in the same style as a colorful Mexican pitcher she owned. The result was an exact match of style and color.
