Delirious solstice suspect attempts robbery during parade
On June 21 during the Solstice Parade at the 4300 block of Leary Avenue Northwest officers responded to an attempted robbery. When officers made contact with the victim, she pointed out the assailant in the crowd among thousands of people. Officers tried to apprehend the suspect but she was soon lost among bikers and body paint. The victim told officers that the suspect seemed intoxicated or was having mental delusions. The incident started after the suspect told the victim that she was going to get shot and that the mob was surrounding her. Then the suspect said to the victim, "Show me the gun. You have my gun in your purse!” The victim reported that the suspect lunged at her and tried to take her purse and then her cell phone. An unknown male intervened and pulled the suspect off the victim. The victim said that the suspect was following her after the incident. The victim suffered deep bruises on her bicep and a scratched finger. She said she would be able to recognize the suspect if she saw her again.
85-15 gang sucker punches man in throat to steal wallet
On June 21 officers responded to an assault at the 8400 block of Seaview Place Northwest. Officers were in the area already checking on a disturbance when a friend of the assaulted victim approached officers and told them his friend had been beaten by several individuals and needed medical assistance. Seattle Fire Department officials were dispatched to the scene where they found the victim holding his throat and wheezing. Between gasps he told officers that a group of four African American males had jumped him. The friend of the victim told officers that the four suspects attempted to pick-pocket the victim and that he intervened. They began beating him, but then the victim intervene and they began punching him in the throat. The friend told the gang that the police had been called and they ditched the scene. The victim reported that the four men said they belonged to the “85 – 15” gang. The victim was treated for his throat injury and was urged to go to the hospital if it got worse.
The police report stated that ” This was one of several reported incidents involving thefts, assaults, and/or robberies tonight but due to the chaos of so many victims and too few officers, the vast majority of the victims declined assistance and left the park.”
Gambling goon tears through wall for the scratch of lotto tickets and cigarettes
On June 19 a burglar entered a business at the 5900 block of 15th Avenue Northwest. Officers made contact with the business owner who said that the store had been locked but that he had received a call from his alarm company stating the back door had been opened. The suspect entered the business by going through the wall of an adjoining tax business. The suspect took 35 cartons of cigarettes and an unknown amount of lottery scratch tickets. The complainant told officers he tried to contact the tax business owner but was unsuccessful.
