HomeStreet Bank Opens Second Branch in Ballard
Mon, 07/14/2014
HomeStreet Bank announced today the opening of a new retail deposit branch in the heart of Ballard at 5900 24th Ave NW. Maggie McKelvy, a long-time Ballard resident, will manage the new “Ballard on 24th” location. In addition to banking products and services for consumers and businesses, the new branch also provides mortgage lending, financial advising and small business lending.
“I know the area and the people here well,” said McKelvy, who joined the HomeStreet team in 2001 and managed the nearby Ballard/Crown Hill branch for 13 years. “The Ballard community is thriving, and we are thrilled to become a greater part of it and to increase our accessibility and the services we provide with our new location.”
“Maggie was instrumental in creating the food garden adjacent to the Ballard/Crown Hill branch’s parking lot,” said Derryl Willis, FVP and regional banking manager. “That in itself was a brilliant use of space and involved several members of the community, and it has been a source of food donations for years. She also started the annual Wellness Fair at the branch and has been very involved in the Ballard Seafood Fest, Ballard Jazz Festival and countless other community programs and activities. Her heart is fully in her work and her community, and I feel we have exactly the right person to build and manage this new branch.”
Additionally, Kim Eskelson has joined HomeStreet to manage the bank’s Ballard/Crown Hill branch, located at 8050 15th Avenue NW. Eskelson has 14 years of experience in financial services, including with Washington Mutual and Banner Bank. “Her passion for banking and her experience will enable us to continue to serve the Crown Hill community with the same level of service and involvement that our customers and community have come to expect over the past 13 years,” said Willis.
Now in its 93rd year, Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank is a full service community bank with 85 bank branches and lending centers in the Western United States and Hawaii. For more information on HomeStreet, visit www.homestreet.com.
