Patxi’s Pizza Ballard Opens Thursday, July 31
Tue, 07/29/2014
Today partners Francisco “Patxi” Azpiroz and William Freeman announce the much-anticipated opening of Ballard’s newest dining destination. Patxi’s Pizza (pronounced PAH-cheese. ‘t’ before ‘x’) opens its first Pacific Northwest location this Thursday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at 5323 Ballard Ave NW in Seattle, Wash.
Patxi’s is most well-known for its authentic signature Deep Dish pizza, topped with a thin layer of extra dough and homemade tomato sauce and baked in a traditional slow rotating pan oven. The new restaurant also offers a recently-debuted light and crispy Italian Thin pizza, featuring imported Italian Double Zero flour and baked to perfection in a 900 degree spinning Italian oven. Patxi’s guests also have the option to Build Your Own pizza, starting with whole milk mozzarella and homemade tomato sauce, and adding guests’ favorite fresh toppings.
In addition to the signature crusts, Patxi’s offers whole wheat and gluten-free options (thin only). There is no additional charge for gluten-free or vegan substitutions.
“The spark for creating Patxi’s started 10 years ago in my apartment kitchen, baking pizza in an old Wedgewood oven,” said Azpiroz. “We still make each pizza by hand and to order using the finest and freshest ingredients. We hope that Seattle enjoys our pizzas as much as we enjoy making them!”
Fresh salads and shareable appetizers round out the menu along with beverages that include a selection of local craft beer and wine, as well as fine spirits and cocktails.
With a warm, inviting space of reclaimed wood, exposed brick, natural light and great music in Ballard’s historic Sanborn Building, Patxi’s is equally suitable for larger groups who want to share family style as well as small parties, date nights and business lunches. The full bar selection also makes it a great stop for a quick bite and drink in the neighborhood. Delivery will be available in the Ballard area a few weeks after opening.
Not to be overshadowed by a passion for pizza, Patxi's Pizza also strives to be active in its communities. Through its 52 Weeks of Giving program, Patxi’s donates a portion of its profits to local nonprofit organizations dedicated to education and children’s health and welfare. To date, the company has donated more than $500,000 to partnering organizations.

Later businesses included a dry goods store operated by retailers William French and Peter Nelson, and Hauff's Department Store, operated by Norwegian businessman Thorvald Hauff.
