White Center man pistol-whipped and beat over $120
A White Center man was repeatedly pistol-whipped and kicked over a $120 debt according to the King County Sheriff’s Department. The incident took place during the early morning of Sunday, July 10, between the houses of midnight and 1am. Police were called to the intersection of S.W. 98th Street and 12th Avenue S.W. after witnesses reported a man being beaten with a gun. When they arrived they found a man severally beaten. He told police that he was attacked over a debt he owned to man that he would not name. According to the victim, the man pistol-whipped him in the head before repeatedly kicking him in the ribs. The man refused both medical service and to give police the name of his attacker.

Crash in North Highline causes power outage for thousands
An SUV crash on the evening of August 13 left an estimated 4,200 Seattle City Light customers in White Center, Burien and West Seattle without power for the evening. The crash took place near the intersection of 10th Avenue S.W. and S.W. 116th around 9pm. The details of the accident have not been released but the accident resulted in a downed power pole and the driver and passenger from the vehicle being taken to a nearby hospital. By 11pm, crews from Seattle City Light were able to reroute power to the majority of customers. This left an estimated 1,2000 customers without power until the lines were repaired. There have been reports that the SUV was being pursued by police at the time of the accident but the King County Sheriff’s Department has yet to confirm if the two men in the vehicle were wanted.
