Whatcom County man in critical condition after impaired driving motorcycle accident in North Highline
A Whatcom County man was last reported in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a major motorcycle accident in the Unincorporated King County neighborhood of White Center. According to the King County Sheriff’s Department, the accident took place in the early morning hours of September 7; around 2:30 a.m. Police believe that both drugs and alcohol played a part in the single vehicle accident. Witnesses reported the motorcycle traveling at “extremely high speeds” before the driver lost control and struck multiple objects along the roadway before coming to a stop within White Center Cutoff Road. King County’s Major Accident and Reconstruction Unit responded and the man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Though the identity of the man has yet to be released, police confirm that he is 34 years old and that his last registered address is in Whatcom County. Police also confirmed that there was no reported previous passenger or witnesses who came forward as associates. Despite significant property damage, no one other than the motorist was injured as a result of this accident. Police report that all of their findings about the accident will be released once their full investigation has been completed.
Man detained in downtown Burien after slashing tires and making racial, religious and homophobic threats
Employees of the Grocery Outlet located near the intersection of S.W. 152nd Street and 4th Avenue S.W. in downtown Burien, called 911 just after opening on the morning of September 4th to report that a man was “scaring customers” by yelling while marching around with store with a knife. According to paperwork filed by the Burien Police Department, officers arrived on the scene minutes later and found a man who they had previously encountered and was identified only as Roy, in what they described as an irrational state. Officers reported that Roy was now in primary parking lot just south of the store’s entrance with his attention focused on one particular vehicle. Roy allegedly slashed the tires on the vehicle with a large knife while screaming “irrational” threatening phrases about African Americans, homosexuals and Christians. The man was detained without major incident or any harm to police or bystanders. Police did not report the suspect having any actual connection to the owner of vehicle that he had been vandalizing. Further information about the investigation has yet to be released.
