Nisqually 1A Seattle Christian commanded the court early before progressing to a 38-20 girls basketball home win against Auburn Adventist of the SeaTac 1B League on Sat., Jan. 17.
"We're happy to win and working to get healthier," said Warrior head coach Dave Jansen.
As the SCS man-to-man defense coerced court turnovers from its opponent of the night, point guard Kelli Ronish touched off a 13-0 points rampage with a standard 3-point play.
Also featured in the essentially game-deciding charge were a Taelor Willhoite free throw, Abby Louie's 3-point bomb, two consecutive Madelyn Weber driving baskets and Jessa Henry's rebound basket.
When the game appeared to be securely in hand after big leads that reached an apex of 23 points midway through the third quarter, the Warriors regularly sent out a potpourri of personnel to the court and kept the lead in the high teens while the squads fought scrappily, if not stylishly, to the end of the game.
Now that injuries and time off have faded into the past, a trio of Seattle Christian young ladies exuded enthusiasm for current and future considerations.
"I feel great about how the team is coming together and getting healthier," said Jessa Henry.
Makenzie May appreciated being able to log more minutes on the court.
"It feels a lot better playing regularly again," Makenzie May stated.
Looking too far forward is a temptation, but Willhoite does not look past any game.
"Each game is a new challenge," she said. "We take them one at a time."
Scoring statistics for Seattle Christian showcased superb sharing of talent with Weber posting double figures at 11. Kelli Ronish popped home eight points while dishing out some nice assists. Louie and Henry earned five points apiece followed by Willhoite at three. Ashley Schroder, Madisen Fors and May concluded the Warrior scoring with two points each. Missy Kelley tied Nyny Chuol for the Falcons at six points each.
