Today a contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation began working on improvements along Delridge Way Southwest between Southwest Andover Street and the West Seattle Bridge Trail. This project will improve safety for all roadway users as well as for pedestrians and bicyclists using the trail.

Crews are beginning work at the intersection of Delridge and Andover, removing existing asphalt and installing new storm drainage and curb ramps. The contractor expects work at this intersection to take about three weeks. There will curb lane restrictions, on-street parking restrictions, transit stop relocations, and pedestrian and bicycle detours around the work area.

Next, the contractor will extend the sidewalk on Delridge beginning north of Andover. The contractor will also rebuild the intersection of 23rd Avenue Southwest and Delridge and install storm drainage at this location. When necessary, the contractor will temporarily restrict on-street parking, close lanes, and detour pedestrians around the work area. Occasionally, the contractor will restrict access to the West Seattle Bridge Trail; bicycles and pedestrians may detour to 23rd Avenue Southwest or an alternate route. Transit stops will be relocated. At Delridge Way Southwest, 23rd Avenue will be closed to through traffic but will remain open to traffic going to locations within the work area.

The crews will normally work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with possible work on weekends. SDOT expects the project to be completed in April, weather permitting.
