The Parks and Recreation Department has received a $25,000 Out-of-School Time Programs Grant. This grant sponsored by the National Recreation and Parks Association and the Walmart Foundation will allow the City to operate free recreational programs throughout the summer in partnership with the Des Moines Area Food Bank. Kids at numerous locations throughout the City will be able to get a meal, gain valuable nutritional literacy training and have fun in organized games led by our recreation staff.
