The department Community and Economic Development (CED) has issued the permit for the new Fire Station 45 building on S. 200th Street that will replace the old station located immediately to the west of the new site. The new station will encompass over 7,500 square feet of area with four sleeping rooms, two long apparatus bays and the structural integrity to withstand earthquakes much better than the former. New to this project will be planted areas that will include a variety of edible landscape plants (fruit trees), something that has not been implemented before within the required landscaping areas that accompany most projects. Work began on the project on March 18 and is scheduled for completion in January of 2016.
