Chief Sealth jumped out to a 9-0 lead and then coasted to a 15-5 victory over Ingraham in Metro League girls fastpitch softball action Monday.
The Seahawks ran their record to 8-5 with the win in a game that was stopped in the midst of a bottom of the sixth rally by a 10-run rule.
"These girls work hard at their sport," said Chief Sealth head coach Mike Depew after the dust on the Southwest Athletic Complex field had settled.
Julia Stewart won on the mound for the Seahawks, throwing the first three innings and striking out five as the team built its 9-0 lead.
Stewart allowed only one base runner -- on a leadoff single to start off the top of the first -- and she was quickly erased to allow Stewart to face the minimum nine batters.
Melanie Ochoa threw the final three innings, striking out three.
Livvy Boyd led the Chief Sealth hitters on what was a sunny and mildly breezy afternoon, hitting 3-for-4 with a triple and two singles. Sister Sophia Boyd hit 2-for-3 in the leadoff position on a triple and a double.
Other players contributing in the game were Claire Erickson, Megan Hafermann, Aisaya Corbray, Paloma Robertson, Kylee Bunch, Shean Juta, Leah Ward and Britney Ochoa.
The Seahawks will be back at the SWAC playing Roosevelt in a 4 p.m. game before visiting Seattle Prep at the same time Friday.
The Friday game will take place on Bobby Morris Field on Capitol Hill in Seattle, where teams face a recurring problem.
"People are always on the field sunning themselves and they don't want to move," Depew said.
