Erin Swain, 18, (Burien WA) received her appointment to the Air Force Academy in October, 2014. She is a recruited athlete on the AFA Women’s soccer team in the position of goalkeeper.
Erin will graduate from Seattle Christian Schools in June 2015 which she attended from K-12. She is a 4.0 student, Valedictorian, Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society member.

Erin is a lifeguard at two local pools and enjoys teaching swimming to young learners. She also helps with younger goalkeepers and teams at her local soccer club, PacNW Soccer Club. Erin loves to ski in her spare time and is active in track and other sports. Erin also enjoys travel visiting Italy, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and in April Puerto Rico.
Erin’s love for soccer started very early. She played at the highest state Olympic Development Program levels in Region IV. Her club soccer team took 3rd place in the US in the ECNL championship in 2012 and won Surf College Cup in 2013. Erin was high school WSCCA All-state 1st team goalkeeper in 2012 and 2014 and in 2012 her team was state finalist. Erin was team captain for both her club and high school soccer teams. Erin traveled quite a bit for soccer throughout the US and even internationally with a 2013 trip to Japan through the MAI Southern California Seahorses Soccer Ministries.
Erin’s grandfather was a Captain in the Air Force, flying B52 bombers in the 1960’s. He taught in the Aeronautics department for 4 years at the Air Force Academy with subjects including thermodynamics, propulsion and aircraft design.
Erin’s goal of attending the Air Force Academy started several years ago. She attended the Summer Seminar in June 2014 and loved every minute of the experience. She also went to an AFA soccer camp in the same month and had an official visit with the soccer team last October.
She has a passion for the Air Force and has work tirelessly through soccer, the AFA application and nomination processes to receive the appointment.
In her words- “the AFA is where I am supposed to be”. We her parents and entire family support her wholeheartedly in this new adventure.
