Construction zone road rage
A construction worker was almost run over by an enraged driver on April 29 at the 1400 block of NW 67th Street. Police were dispatched to the scene and made contact with the victim who told officers she was flagging traffic on NW 67th Street when a male driver in a tan Chevy Trail Blazer tried to move around the cones to go eastbound. Construction workers had traffic moving in one lane. The victim stepped in front of the car to stop the suspect. He stopped and told her he planned to take a right on 15th Avenue NW. She told him to wait. The suspect became enraged and said, “You better get out of my way, or I'm going to hit you.” He gunned the engine and sped through the construction zone. The victim barely had time to jump out of the way as the car brushed along the right side of her body. She declined to seek medical treatment but said she would be bruised for sure. A fellow construction worker was able to report a license plate number to police. The witness also reported that the suspect yelled, “You are lucky you moved, or I would have hit you,” as he drove through the other side of the construction zone. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
Phantom construction crew trips alarm
The alarm to a business located on 1800 block of NW Market Street was tripped on April 24 and owners believe it was at the hands of construction workers doing work to the adjacent suite in the building. The alarm company called the owner late that night after the alarm had been tripped. The owner had an associate check the business. No one was found at the business and the space looked undisturbed. Later that morning an employee reported that earlier that week she heard male voices in the hallway between the businesses. She said someone tried to use a set of keys to open a shared door between the office suites. When she looked in the hallway she saw a work boot disappear through the doorway at the end of the hall. No security footage captured the disturbance. No latent prints were recovered.
Ballard man out bicycle and six-pack of Busch
Officers were dispatched to the scene of a burglary at the 7500 block 17th Avenue NW on April 24 after a complainant reported a stolen bike and six-pack of beer. The complainant came home to find his garage door open and his 2014 White Specialized Sirrus bicycle missing. He also noticed his refrigerator door was wide open and a six-pack of Busch beer was gone. Officers dusted for prints but have no leads.
