Area girls honored in track and field

Caroline Tupa of Evergreen was named as the Seamount League girls track and field Athlete of the Year for her first team efforts in the shot put and disculs, while her Evergreen-Tyee squad also won the Team Sportsmanship award.
Carolyn Burns of Kennedy was named as the Coach of the Year after leading the Lancers to the league championship.
Making the first team from Kennedy was Gabrielle Patten in the 300-meter low hurdles and Foster's Emily Chanthaphone made the first squad in the pole vault.
Renton's foursome of Olivia Carter, Raylyn Apolonio, Savannah Smith and Shelly Sauls was named in both the 400 and 800-meter relays and the 1,600-meter relay award went to Hazen's Alexis Rogers, Amy Warmenhoven, Sablena Milinganyo and Sarah Hart. Hart was also named in the 800-meter run and 1,600-meter run.
Other first team choices were Shelly Sauls of Renton in the 100, Christina Wiley of Lindbergh in the 100 hurdles, Shelly Saults of Renton in the 200, Feven Fessehatzion of Lindbergh in the 3,200, Alexis Rogers of Hazen in the 400, Aajua Brooks of Lindbergh in the high jump and long jump, Taliah Coe of Hazen in the javelin and Christina Wiley of Lindbergh in the triple jump.
Kennedy dominated the second team picks, including all three relays.
Alyssa Hoffman, Arielle Garnett, Chloe Eustaquio and Gabrielle Patten were named in the 400 relay and Hoffman, Garnett, Patten and Kit Bruner in the 800. Named in the 1,600 relay were Patten, Bruner, Lily Gralley and Natalie Mutter.
Garnett also made the second team in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races and Hoffman in the 100 hurdles and high jump.
Terry Maddie of the Lancers was also named in the high jump and teammate Allessandra Campagnaro in the javelin.
Evergreen's Cecilia Vu made the second team in the 1,600, Highline's A'Janae Harwell in the discus and HIghline's Sophia Cassam in the pole vault.
Other second team choices were Plamedie Masiala of Hazen in the 300 hurdles, Tyra Beckman of Renton in the 3,200, Kate Lilly of Hazen in the 800, Alicia Nguyen of Hazen in the high jump and long jump, Michelle Lilly of Hazen in the high jump and triple jump, Norchel Laylo of Lindbergh in the high jump, Shannon Dickenson of Hazen in the pole vault and Aajua Brooks of Lindbergh in the shot put.
The honorable mention list included Alyssa Hoffman of Kennedy in the 300 hurdles, Lily Grassley of Kennedy in the 3,200, Cecilia Vu of Evergreen in the 800, Ashley Galando of Kennedy in the javelin and A'Jenaie Hardwell of Highline in the shot put.
