BURIEN, WASH. – The City of Burien has issued a proclamation recognizing the White Center Jubilee Days event for being a fun, family-friendly community-oriented event. City Council members voted to support the proclamation at last night’s regularly-scheduled City Council meeting.
The proclamation reads, in part: The Burien City Council of the City of Burien, Washington recognizes the White Center Jubilee Days event as a fun, family-friendly, community-oriented event and encourages everyone to attend.
The White Center Jubilee Days, a Seattle Seafair-sanctioned community event, started 92 years ago in 1923 in White Center, Washington. The White Center Jubilee Days is an opportunity for everyone to eat, drink, dance, shop and enjoy numerous family-friendly events. Jubilee Days has been well-attended by residents and strongly-supported by businesses from Burien, Seattle and King County. This year, the White Center Jubilee Days will take place from July 15-19 with a fireworks show on July 15th, a street fair on July 18th and 19th as well as a parade on July 19th, among other activities.
The City issues proclamations to heighten awareness around or draw attention to community programs, events, issues, achievements, and/or initiatives as a show of support and recognition for community endeavors and accomplishments. The City Council invites the community to join in commending last night’s recipients.
