Masked man rips off convenient store register
Police are searching for a young white man after he smashed a large window of a convenient store located on the 2400 block of NW 80th Street and ran off with cash register. Police received a call from the convenient storeowner on July 12 after the alarm to the business had been tripped. The storeowner reported to police he arrived at his business to find a large front window smashed and the store in disarray. The security footage showed a teenager or a man in his early 20s wearing a mask and gloves. He smashed the window and entered the store. The suspect ripped the register from the counter and ran off. Police dusted for fingerprints but none were recovered. The storeowner was able to provide the security footage for evidence. The estimated loss was $1,200.
Man knocked out in alley near his home
Police are searching for a suspect who knocked out a Ballard man in an alley near his home on the 800 block of NW 51th Street. On July 11 police were dispatched to the victim’s home. He told police that he got off the bus at the stop a few blocks from his home where he lives with his mother. He noticed a white car parked near his home and recognized the driver. Then two males got out of the car and started jogging toward him. One suspect was a white male with grey hair and the other was a black male in his 20s. The victim turned and walked down an alley. He didn’t see the suspect but felt someone hit him in the head. He was knocked unconscious. When he woke up he went home and called police. Nothing was taken from the victim. Although there was no visible sign of injury on the victim’s head, Police advised the victim’s mother to take him to the emergency room.
Burglar breaks in to steal house keys
A Ballard family is changing their locks after a burglar broke into there home and stole their keys. OnJuly 10 police were dispatched to the residence located on the 200 block of NW 48th Street after a report of the burglary. The homeowner’s sister told police that she was house sitting the home while her sister and her family were away. She said that she came home to find the front door open. She suspected a burglary and looked over the house to see what was taken. She found back windows were damaged. House keys were the only things taken. Police dusted for fingerprints but none were recovered.
