Thief makes off with $1820 in tools
Police are looking for a tool thief who nabbed power tools from a home located on the 1000 block of 14th Avenue Northwest on July 28. The complainant told officers that he came home to find the tools he had stored in his entryway were gone. The sliding door to his home was badly damaged, and his back door was completely opened. Police believe the suspect entered through the sliding door, grabbed the tools and left through the back door. The complainant thought he heard someone running through the alleyway when he first arrived home. No fingerprints were discovered at the scene. The estimated loss was $1,820.
Master keys to apartment complex stolen
An apartment complex will have their locks changed after a suspect stole the keys to the whole building located on the 1500 block of NW 52nd Street on July 24. Police received a call from the maintenance person of the building who told them that he came to work and found the maintenance room was broken into. The door handle was smashed off and the lock-bock containing the master keys was taken. The complainant told police that five other employees and employees of two painting companies have access to the keys. No fingerprints were found at the scene.
Man arrested after boat burglary, caught by boat buyers
A man was arrested after attempting to burglarize a boat moored at the 2600 block of NW 54th Street on July 26. The complainants called the police after they found the man inside the boat. They were showing the boat to a potential buyer and discovered the man inside. While waiting for the police, the complainants searched the man’s backpack and discovered he had taken two Fairbanks-Morris pumps from the boat. The suspect struggled free and threw one of the pumps off the dock. The complainants wrestled the man down and managed to save the other pump. When police arrived the man denied stealing anything. Police detained the man and booked him at King County Jail for burglary. The estimated loss was $700.
