Police report reveals more details to Market Street shooting
An attempted robbery on NW Market Street and Ballard Avenue NW turned into a shooting that wounded three people on August 8. Police spoke with security guards outside the club where the incident occurred. They told officers that a Hispanic man in his 20s ripped a gold chain off another man’s neck. There was an altercation, and the guards took the men to the front door. The victim told the security guards what happened. The guards approached the suspect. The suspect pulled a silver handgun from his waistband and walked toward the victim. The victim ran. He heard three shots and felt pain in his stomach. As the suspect fired shots, one security guard lunged at the suspect and pushed the gun toward the ground. The bullets hit the ground, broke apart and ricocheted into three people. One victim was hit in the hip; one victim was hit in the hand and the original victim -- who lost his chain -- was hit in the stomach. The suspect fled the scene. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Seattle Fire Department treated the three victims for minor injuries.
Burglar makes off with watches and cash
Police are on the look out for a watch-thief after a home located on the 100 block of NW 74th Street was burglarized on August 9. The complainant told police that he was out of town for the weekend, and when he returned home he found his kitchen door open. Upon further inspection of the house he found that a basement window was ajar. The burglar took almost $1000 of property from the home. Among the goods were six watches and over $150 in cash. Police noticed a finger print on the window frame and were able to recover it for evidence.
Burglar scared off by alarm
A burglar attempted to break into a home located on the 100 block of Fourth Avenue NW but was scared off when the alarm sounded. On August 11 the complainant left his home and was gone for a most of the day. When he returned home he found his back door partially opened and the alarm tripped. He noticed there were items in front of the door that would have been pushed aside had the door been opened, but the items were in place. He suspected that the door had been partially opened and that who ever opened it was scared off by the alarm. Nothing was taken from the home.
