A sewage pipe passing under the parking lot of the Luna Park Cafe on Avalon Way SW backed up in the early morning on Tuesday Aug. 25 causing the cafe to shut down as repairs were being made. Work being done near the West Seattle Bridge may have been a contributing factor.

The line is not connected to the cafe.

The backup caused sewage to spill into the parking lot and out to the sidewalk.

Crews were called in to clean up the mess and get the line flushed out.

Cafe management said they hoped to resolve the problem and be open as soon as possible
