Grabbing some water at Me-Kwa-Mooks Park female runner Stacy Cail was in the lead for the women, during the Salty Half Marathon on Oct. 17 which saw runners complete a 13.1 mile course from Alki up through Lincoln Park. Cail went on to finish in first place for women in the race.
The 7th Annual Salty Half Marathon race was held on Oct. 17 beginning at the Don Armeni Boat Lanch along Alki’s boardwalk with the 13.1 mile course extending up into Lincoln Park. Runners had to be able to complete the 13.1 miles in less than 3 hours.
The race was started by Tamara Mackey, who took on the challenge of completing 52 half marathons in one year and completed it. Since then she has been the organizer of this event that saw 167 runners competing.
Awards were given the top 5 male and top 10 female finishers overall. Everyone participating received a custom finishers' fish memento from Bedrock Industries.
Veronica Margarito Lopez of Bedrock Industries is the artist behind the custom recycled glass Finishers’ Fish. The runners were excited to receive a different type of “finishers’ medal” .
