The Psychic View – Near and Far

When my career as a psychic began years ago, I always presumed I would limit myself to in-person readings, believing it necessary to come face-to-face with clients to properly ‘tune in’ to them. Though I frequently received requests for sessions over the phone, I invariably turned them down. How, I wondered, could I possibly connect with someone hundreds or even thousands of miles away?
Things changed almost by accident. A friend of mine, on a business trip to New York, learned that a colleague had been searching for a ‘reliable psychic’ for quite some time, with no success. ‘Jan’ recommended me enthusiastically and passed my number on to ‘Linda.’ Later, when Jan reported the incident, I was peeved rather than grateful. “I don’t do phone readings!” I reminded her. To which Jan retorted, “But how do you know you can’t? Just try!”
Her logic struck a chord. I’d assumed it was beyond my capabilities, but how did I know? So when Linda indeed contacted me, I openly admitted I had never done a long-distance reading, but would be willing to give it a try. If I wasn’t successful, I’d cheerfully change her nothing. She proved more than willing to act as test subject and I became intrigued at the prospect. I hadn’t envisioned any special new technique for ‘linking’ with an individual three thousand miles away…instead deciding to ‘go with the flow’. In all events, the reading turned out to be a singular success, rich in details about my client as well as ‘contact’ with several of her loved ones on the ‘other side.’ Linda was enthralled with the session, passing my name on to others, none of whom lived in my vicinity. And this time when they called, there was no hesitation to accept them as clients.
This incident caused me to reflect on two topics. Firstly, I remained baffled as to how the ‘information’ perceived during readings could travel over enormous distances to reach me. I speculated and ruminated, but eventually concluded this was a false conundrum. ‘Near and Far’…‘Here and There’…are abstractions conjured to deal with the ephemeral and make them concrete. We humans love to ‘measure’ things as a means of comprehending them. Yet ‘knowledge’ and ‘energy,’ at least in the psychic realm, exist in their own sphere or dimension. Just as data can be sent almost instantaneously via modern technology, so can ‘thoughts’ be transmitted by means yet unknown, and faster than the blink of an eye. Thus, ‘distance’ proves no barrier at all.
Beyond this, I recognized I had been foolishly holding myself back, presupposing I could not do readings unless present with the client. This seemed ‘logical’ but in actuality, entirely untrue. Far too often, we impose artificial limits on our capabilities or talents. As a result, we go through life missing out on discovering our true, boundless horizons and unanticipated, exhilarating ways of exploring them.
And so, whether measuring time and space, or the supposed boundaries of our achievements, we should not stifle our potential by assessing it with narrowed vision. And when those artificial barriers are removed, incalculable rewards will be almost certainly in the offing!
